OBOR portal officially launched

Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Chinese flagship newspaper Lianhe Zaobao and Singapore Business Federation (SBF) officially launched a dedicated portal to the China-initiated One Belt, One Road strategy on Tuesday, 8 March 2016.

Minister for Prime Minister’s Office and Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress, Mr Chan Chun Sing was the guest-of-honour for the event. Mr Chen Xiaodong, Chinese Ambassador in Singapore，Dr Lee Boon Yan, Chairman of Singapore Press Holdings， Mr S.S. Teo, Managing Director of PIL and Chairman of Singapore Business Federation,  Mr Anthony Tan, executive vice-president of SPH's Chinese Media Group, and Mr Ho Meng Kit, chief executive officer of Singapore Business Federation officiated the launch.

The portal has received wide support from the community with PIL as one of the twelve sponsors.

PIL Managing Director, Mr S. S. Teo said in an interview with Lianhe Zaobao that “Chinese companies are increasingly paying attention to the importance of Singapore’s influence in Southeast Asia trade”. Mr Teo encouraged Singapore businesses to leverage on their regional strength and pro-business environment to work with China enterprises to develop the entrance to Southeast Asia, Africa and the Indian subcontinent market.

PIL China GM Mr Klaus Ku, was interviewed by Lianhe Zaobao who shared his views about the strategy.
