Fly Our Flag - United We Will Overcome
30 April 2020

Would like to encourage all colleagues to Fly our National Flag from our homes before 1 May 2020 in celebration of Labour Day and continue to do so until 30 September 2020 when we end our National Day Celebrations.

The National Flag is an emblem of our shared values, identity and future. With President Halimah Yacob's assent to display our National Flag with immediate effect, we want to stand together with others in the society, to show our unity and solidarity during Covid-19 outbreak even as we may be physically apart. It is a call for us to work together and stand resilient to overcome the situation.

As we celebrate Labour Day on 1 May 2020, we want to recognise and support all local and foreign workers, especially those performing essential services by flying our flag. PIL vessels will also be sounding our horns on 1 May 2020 at 1200 hours, to recognise our sea-colleagues who continue to sail, to keep global supply chain connected with important supplies like food and medical supplies, on a daily basis even during crisis.

Let us continue to stay safe and look out for each other. Together we are United and will emerge Stronger!

More information on the Fly our Flag

  • To encourage Singaporeans to start displaying their Flags, We are Majulah (WAM), a social movement, has initiated a Flag Movement, calling on all Singaporeans to

    • fly their Flag before 1 May (Friday) and
    • post photos of themselves (and their families) on social media with the Flag and the hashtags #homebutnotalonesg and #stayhomeforsg.

  • The movement aims to use the Flag as a symbol of solidarity to rally people and show support for workers performing essential services, Singaporeans staying home and migrant workers, to strengthen the sense of community and connection. If you do not have a flag, you could use the template or post a picture with one on your social media accounts with the hashtag #homebutnotalonesg and #stayhomeforsg.
