Notice: Update on strike action in South Africa’s ports
03 November 2022

Dear Valued Customers,

Having successfully concluded negotiations with South Africa’s local transport unions, port operator Transnet has announced that its workers have returned to work and port operations at South Africa’s ports have resumed.

We fully understand the disruption caused to your supply chain. As part of our ongoing commitment to our customers, we are pleased to inform you that we will waive all Detention and Demurrage charges accumulated for import and export shipments during the shutdown of the Port of Durban as follows:

Imports: For laden containers that are lying in port during the period from 6 - 21 October 2022, there will be no detention/demurrage charges applicable. This free time extension is only applicable for containers that could not be uplifted from the terminal during the period specified.

Exports: For containers that were released before 6 October 2022, free time will be extended till the second day stack opens and the deadline to load out of Durban will be 7 November 2022.

Please be assured that we will do our utmost to expedite the processing of your cargo to mitigate the delays caused by the disruption.
