PIL Donates Further Shipments to Underprivileged Communities in Africa
26 May 2022

PIL is pleased to once again lend its support to non-profit organisation Crossroads Foundation, based in Hong Kong, by donating three containerised shipments from Hong Kong to needy communities in Africa. Two of the shipments have already been completed.

In late April 2022, volunteers from Crossroads Foundation loaded one PIL container with household goods, clothing, books, school supplies, computer equipment, school and office furniture. The container was then sent on a PIL vessel in early May to Madagascar in East Africa to help at-risk families.

For the next shipment in mid-May 2022, the destination was Malawi in Southeast Africa. The country has been facing challenges, especially during the pandemic. To provide support to the people of this country, Crossroads Foundation packed a container with hospital beds, educational equipment, computers, clothing, bicycles, toys and other much needed goods which was transported on a PIL vessel to Malawi.

PIL has been partnering Crossroads Foundation since 2005 on a range of projects including the building of schools and healthcare centres in Cameroon, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. Looking ahead, PIL will continue to seek opportunities to engage and support the local communities in Africa which is a key region in the global network serviced by PIL.
