PIL’s Sustainability Report 2025: Navigating a Changing World

Pacific International Lines (PIL) today published its Sustainability Report 2025, Navigating a Changing World, outlining the Group’s progress in advancing sustainability across its fleet, operations and global business functions. 

In 2025, PIL advanced its environmental, social and governance priorities, with progress in fleet renewal, climate-related reporting, workplace safety, labour and human rights, information security and sustainable procurement. 

Fleet renewal remained central to PIL’s decarbonisation journey. During the year, PIL welcomed six LNG dual-fuel vessels into service across its 14,000 TEU and 8,200 TEU newbuild programmes. Equipped with energy-efficiency technologies, shore power capability and methane slip reduction systems, these vessels support the Group’s long-term transition towards net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. By end-2025, LNG dual-fuel vessels accounted for 19% of PIL’s fleet capacity by TEU. 

PIL also strengthened its commitment to people. The Group obtained ISO 45001 certification covering its Singapore headquarters and fleet management system, audited global offices against workplace safety requirements, and completed its first comprehensive Labour and Human Rights Risk Assessment covering shore staff, seafarers and suppliers. It also completed living wage benchmarking across its global entities and developed action plans to address identified gaps, with adjustments implemented where required. 

On governance, PIL achieved ISO 27001 certification for its information security management system and conducted a Board-level cybersecurity tabletop exercise to strengthen crisis response and business continuity readiness. The launch of ProcureSMART at its headquarters provided a stronger foundation for supplier onboarding and due diligence processes. 

PIL’s progress was recognised with an EcoVadis Gold Medal for its December 2025 assessment, placing the Group among the top 5% of organisations assessed. PIL views this as a benchmark for continuous improvement as it deepens sustainability integration across its operations. 

In the report, Chief Executive Officer Lars Christian Kastrup said, “Sustainability is a journey of continuous improvement and not one we undertake alone. We are proud of the progress made in 2025 but recognise that more remains to be done. The challenges facing our industry require collaboration, innovation, discipline and persistence.” 

Guided by its values of being People-Centric, Pushing Boundaries and Future-Focused, PIL will continue working with colleagues, customers and partners to build a stronger, more resilient and more sustainable business. 

The report has been prepared with reference to the GRI Universal Standards 2021 and IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures. It also outlines PIL’s contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and serves as PIL’s annual United Nations Global Compact Communication on Progress, reinforcing its commitment to the Ten Principles.
