Our Cybersecurity Focus

As PIL embraces technology and digitalisation to deliver efficient and sustainable solutions for our customers, we also recognise the importance of securing our information, assets, and records through our three-pronged approach.

Stakeholder Engagement

We actively involve business stakeholders in decision-making processes concerning cybersecurity, ensuring a comprehensive understanding and approach to potential risks and solutions.

All our staff are to adhere to our company’s Cybersecurity Policy. We regularly provide comprehensive cybersecurity training sessions and workshops, as well as send out awareness circulars to ensure that everyone in PIL is vigilant to cybersecurity threats and updated with the latest best practices and threats. We also have in place a standard process for our staff to identify, respond and recover swiftly from cybersecurity incidents.

Investments

We have allocated resources towards technology and upskilling, staying updated in the realm of digital protection. As a shipping line, we recognise our responsibility to improve cyber resilience of our shipboard networks and systems, even if it means adding extra security beyond the controls provided by system manufacturers and service providers.

Across our entire fleet, we have implemented maritime cybersecurity solutions that give us stronger visibility of our shipboard computing systems. This empowers our team to actively mitigate cyber risks by better monitoring onboard computing activities remotely and continuously improving controls to secure the IT systems.

Risk Management

Employing a risk-based approach, PIL adheres to industry-standard frameworks to guide our cybersecurity measures, ensuring that effective defences are in place. In alignment with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 2021 Cyber Security Compliance for Maritime, our International Safety Management guideline has been updated in accordance to the IMO’s requirement framework.
